Job summary

Teach Now Limited is recruiting a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary special school in Hertfordshire. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support across EYFS to KS2, helping pupils with ASD, speech and language needs and learning difficulties.

The role focuses on fostering independence, supporting transitions, and working closely with teachers and SEN staff to monitor progress.

SEN Learning Support Assistant – Hertfordshire Location: Hertfordshire Salary: £90–£101.80 per day, dependent on experience and qualifications Contract: Full-time, Long-term, Temporary Start Date: 21 September 2026 Key Stages: EYFS, KS1 & KS2 Teach Now is recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary special school in Hertfordshire. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learning difficulties, and speech and language needs. The school provides a calm, safe and vibrant environment where pupils are encouraged to develop academically, socially and emotionally at their own pace. As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and experienced SEN staff to provide individualised support, helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and develop greater independence.

Your responsibilities

About you
  • Have previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN, although strong transferable experience will also be considered.
  • Have experience with ASD, speech and language needs, learning difficulties or related additional needs.
  • Be calm, caring and consistent when supporting children who may find communication or emotional regulation challenging.
  • Be confident building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Be flexible and able to respond to the individual needs of different pupils.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Have a genuine desire to help pupils develop confidence and independence.

Requirements for applicants
