Job summary

SENse Learning is seeking a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one mentoring and learning support for SEND learners. Roles involve working in homes and community settings, delivering holistic, interest-based sessions tailored to each student’s needs.

Applicants should have at least 2 years of relevant experience, DBS clearance, and a child-centered, trauma-informed approach. This is a flexible, self-employed mentorship position with ongoing interviews and rolling applications.

Qualifications

• Experience: At least 2 years of experience working with children or young people with complex additional needs (e.g. ASC, ADHD, SEMH, EBSA, trauma, PDA, mental health).
• Background: Suitable for Support Workers, Learning Support Assistants, Teaching Assistants, Higher-Level TAs, Youth Workers or related care/education roles.
• Approach: Child-centred, holistic methods to adapt curricula to individual students.
• Compliance: DBS clearance and 2+ professional references.

Responsibilities

• Build strong, positive relationships with children and young people facing challenges.
• Provide one-to-one support in homes and community settings with creative, interest-based activities.
• Support development of life skills, confidence and independence.
• Employ trauma-informed approaches and flexible strategies for diverse needs.
• Model and encourage emotional regulation; provide feedback to track progress.
