Job summary

Education Authority is seeking a Classroom Support Assistant to work under the guidance of the class teacher/outreach teacher, assisting pupils with special educational needs in and outside the classroom.

Responsibilities include supporting learning, attending to personal needs, contributing to plans and evaluations, and helping maintain records and resources within the school environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the support and care of pupils with special educational needs, enabling access to the curriculum and attending to personal needs.
• Develop understanding of each pupil's needs to be supported.
• Assist with authorised education and care plans, participate in evaluations, and encourage pupil participation.
• Contribute to the inclusion of pupils in mainstream settings under the teacher's direction.
• Support with non-invasive medical/clinical difficulties and behavioural management as directed.
• Help pupils move around school and board transport as required.
• Assist with classroom administration and recording pupil progress.
• Provide regular feedback about pupils to the teacher or Education Authority officer.
• Duplicate materials, assist with charts/displays, and manage resources and records.
• Attend relevant in-service training and assist work placement students; perform other duties as assigned.
