Education Authority in Belfast area is seeking a classroom support assistant to work under the direction of the class teacher/outreach teacher to assist with educational support and care for pupils in designated classes, inside or outside the classroom.

The role involves supervising groups and individuals, assisting with curriculum activities, handling basic administrative tasks, and supporting a safe learning environment. Training opportunities and involvement in school activities are included.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in the efficient running of the class.
• Supervise groups of children, or individual pupils on activities including talking and listening, using ICT, and other duties.
• Provide continuity of adult care such as supervising play, cloakrooms, hand washing and toileting.
• Assist with classroom administration, e.g. collecting dinner money, lost property, duplicating materials and maintaining pupil progress records.
• Attend relevant in-service training and support work placement tasks.
