Job summary

Eani in Newtownabbey seeks a Classroom Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs under the direction of teachers and Education Authority officers. The role involves assisting with general classroom activities, personal care, and implementing Education/Care plans to promote inclusive learning.

You will work as part of a team, follow school procedures, and participate in relevant training. Experience in learning environments is desirable.

Qualifications

• Hold a minimum of a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant area. Award level must be Certificate or Diploma.
• AND have a minimum of 6 weeks experience in a learning environment or placement.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements relevant to school settings.
• Desirable criteria include Level 3 qualification or higher, and English/Maths at Level 2 or above.

Responsibilities

• Assist with classroom support to help pupils access the curriculum.
• Support personal care needs (dietary, toileting, feeding) as required.
• Contribute to the implementation and evaluation of Education/Care Plans.
• Assist with administration and recording of pupil progress.
• Support pupils with SEN in moving around school and during activities.
