Job summary

EANI invites applications for a Classroom Assistant – Special Educational Needs in Cookstown. You will support pupils with SEN under guidance of the class teacher, assisting with learning activities and personal care as required.

Qualifications

• Essential criteria include holding a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification and 6 weeks’ experience in a formal learning environment or 12 months’ experience in a formal learning environment.
• Need to understand health and safety, child development, safeguarding.
• Ability to plan, follow systems, work in a team, and support child-centred learning.

Responsibilities

• Assist with SEN pupil(s) in the classroom and during transport as required.
• Support access to the curriculum and personal care needs (dietary, feeding, toileting).
• Promote independence and encourage pupil participation in Education/Care Plans.
• Provide confidentiality and maintain pupil progress records as directed.
• Support with off-site activities and supervision of groups of pupils.
