Job summary

Ballycastle High School in Antrim seeks a Classroom Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs. The post is 20 hours per week, fixed-term until 30 June 2028 with flexible holiday arrangements.

Under the teacher's direction you will assist with education plans, support inclusion, manage behaviour and help pupils access the curriculum. Training and ongoing support are provided within a caring school environment.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 2 qualification in a relevant area or have 12 months' experience in a formal learning environment.
• Demonstrate knowledge of health and safety requirements and safeguarding.
• Ability to plan, organise and adapt to a child-centred learning experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with classroom support for pupils with special educational needs.
• Assist with Education/Care Plans and participate in programme evaluation.
• Support inclusion of pupils in mainstream settings and follow risk assessments.
• Assist with personal needs, medical administration and movement around the school.
• Provide resources, monitor progress and report to the class teacher.
