Job summary

Carhill Integrated Primary School in Derry/Londonderry is seeking a Part‑Time Classroom Assistant (SEN) to support pupils with special educational needs. Under the supervision of the Principal and class teacher, you will assist with inclusive teaching, personal care, and daily activities.

The role emphasises safeguarding, teamwork, and adapting activities to individual needs, with flexible terms across school holidays. Experience in a formal learning environment is desirable.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of health and safety requirements in a school setting.
• Understanding development needs of children/young people.
• Awareness of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
• Able to plan and organise effectively.
• Ability to work in a team and follow systems.
• Strong communication and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Assist with SEN pupils and support learning in or outside the classroom.
• Help implement Education/ Care Plans and participate in evaluations.
• Assist in promoting inclusion and pupil participation in activities.
• Support with day‑to‑day care needs and modest medical tasks as required.
• Assist with moving pupils safely around the school and on transport.
• Provide assistance with administration and preparation of teaching material when needed.
