Job summary

Fair Hill Primary School in Dromore seeks a Classroom Assistant – Special Educational Needs to support pupils with SEN both in and out of the classroom. Under supervision you will assist with learning activities, personal care, and inclusion within the school environment.

The role covers general classroom support, safeguarding, and collaboration with teachers to implement Education and Care Plans. Flexible hours and part-time duties reflect school holiday arrangements.

Qualifications

• Hold a minimum of Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant area.
• OR have a minimum of 12 months’ experience in a formal learning environment.
• Demonstrate health and safety knowledge and safeguarding understanding.
• Show development awareness and child-centred approaches.
• Possess effective planning, organisation and team-working skills.
• Communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Be flexible to support varying duties and patterns.

Responsibilities

• Assist with SEN pupil educational support and care in or outside the classroom.
• Support access to the curriculum and attend to personal needs.
• Assist with Education Plan and Care Plan implementation and evaluation.
• Promote inclusion of pupils in mainstream settings under direction.
• Assist with behavioural management and safety measures.
• Help pupils move around the school and on/off transport.
• Assist with medicines administration and minor first aid as required.
• Prepare learning resources and supervise activities; support learning environment.
