Job summary

NextGen Teachers is recruiting an experienced and compassionate SEMH teaching assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive specialist school in Huddersfield. You will support pupils aged 5 to 18 with Autism and/or SEMH, helping them access learning and develop confidence.

Role involves 1:1 and small-group work, assisting with behaviour management and emotional regulation, and collaborating closely with teachers to create a safe, structured, and inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Has previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (especially SEMH).
• Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH or similar additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils.
• Support pupils with ASD, ADHD and SEMH.
• Help pupils engage positively with their learning.
• Support behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Develop positive relationships with pupils.
• Support communication, social skills and independence.
• Help pupils manage transitions throughout the school day.
• Follow individual education and support plans.
• Support classroom activities and practical learning.
• Work closely with teachers and the school support team.
