Job summary

Teach Now Limited is seeking a resilient and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH to join a supportive specialist school for boys aged 11–16 in Hertfordshire. This role offers an excellent opportunity to help young people overcome barriers to learning and develop academically, socially and emotionally.

You will initially work within the classroom, supporting teachers to create a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Support students during lessons, individually or in small groups.
• Help pupils understand tasks and stay focused.
• Adapt approach to individual learning and emotional needs.
• Support emotional regulation, confidence and resilience.
• Build positive relationships with pupils while maintaining boundaries.
• Reinforce classroom expectations and routines.
• Assist with transitions and organisational tasks.
• Monitor engagement and share observations with staff.
• Encourage pupil independence in learning.
• Contribute to a safe, calm school environment.
