Job summary

Teaching Personnel is partnering with specialist SEMH schools across South Manchester to recruit SEMH Teaching Assistants. The role involves supporting pupils with emotional, behavioural and social needs, both 1:1 and in small groups, to engage positively in learning.

The ideal candidate has experience in education, care, youth work, coaching, mentoring, or support work and is available during school hours. Long-term and permanent opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Experience in education, care, youth work, coaching, mentoring, or support work.
• Calm, patient, and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students facing barriers to learning.
• Support pupils inside and outside the classroom.
• Assist teachers in creating a safe, structured learning atmosphere.
• Promote confidence, resilience, independence and personal development.
