Job summary

Aspire People is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students in Wisbech on a daily and long-term supply basis. You will work one-on-one or in small groups to support SEMH needs and help students engage with lessons.

You will implement behavior strategies, support teachers in the classroom, and provide emotional and pastoral support to build resilience and self-esteem. Collaboration with staff is essential to plan and monitor progress.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioral issues, or additional learning needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of SEMH strategies, de-escalation and behavior management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support for students with SEMH needs.
  • Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior.
  • Assist the teacher with classroom management, lesson delivery and a positive learning environment.
  • Provide emotional and pastoral support to students, building resilience and self-esteem.
  • Liaise with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to create individual plans.
  • Track student progress and report back to staff on issues or successes.
