Aspire People in Wisbech is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant for daily and long-term supply work in our school. You will support students with SEMH needs, help them engage with lessons and build emotional resilience.

The role involves working closely with teachers, SENCOs and staff to create supportive learning environments, manage behaviors, and monitor progress. Adaptability and compassion are essential for success in this flexible supply capacity.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH is essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of de-escalation, restorative practices, and behaviour management.
  • Patient, compassionate and resilient approach.
  • Ability to work well in a team with teachers and support staff.
  • Flexible to supply roles across different classrooms.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support for SEMH students.
  • Implement behavior management strategies.
  • Support the teacher with classroom management and delivery.
  • Provide emotional and pastoral support to students.
  • Liaise with teachers and SENCOs to create plans.
  • Monitor progress and report to staff.
