Job summary

Astro Education is recruiting a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in South Manchester. You will support KS3 and KS4 pupils, providing consistent, nurturing and structured help throughout the school day.

The role is full-time and permanent, Monday to Friday during school hours, with experience in SEMH, challenging behaviour or complex emotional needs welcomed as a transferable skill to education.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs.
• Background in SEMH residential care or youth work is advantageous.
• Patient, calm and resilient with ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils in KS3 and KS4 within classroom and wider school environments.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support as required.
• Help pupils engage with lessons and develop confidence and independence.
• Use de-escalation and positive behaviour support strategies.
