Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEMH school in Preston. You will support pupils with SEMH, ADHD, Autism, attachment difficulties and trauma-related needs, across 1:1, small-group, and classroom activities, helping them access education while developing social and emotional skills.

The role offers extensive SEMH and behaviour management training, with a September start and a supportive team of experienced teachers and pastoral staff.

Qualifications

• Previous SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviour experience.
• Experience in PRUs, care, residential support, youth work, sports coaching, or mentoring welcomed.
• Calm and confident when dealing with challenging situations.
• Able to establish firm, consistent boundaries while remaining empathetic.
• Resilient, patient, and emotionally intelligent.
• Psychology and related graduates encouraged to apply.
• Genuine desire to improve outcomes for vulnerable young people.

Responsibilities

• You will support pupils with needs including SEMH, ADHD, Autism, attachment difficulties, trauma-related needs, and challenging behaviour.
• You will work across 1:1 support, small-group interventions, and classroom activities, helping pupils access education while developing their social and emotional skills.
• Recognising triggers and supporting pupils when they become dysregulated; using established behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
