Job summary

Simply Education is recruiting a caring Teaching Assistant to support pupils at a Specialist Primary Alternative Provision in Longsight, Manchester. The role is 35 hours per week, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break, and a full-time contract with temporary to permanent prospects.

You will work 1:1 and in small groups to help pupils access learning, support emotional regulation, and use calm, consistent strategies to promote safety and positive behaviour.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, Alternative Provision, PRU, or inclusive settings.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children to encourage learning.
• Confident using calm strategies to support emotional regulation.
• Value structure, routines, and restorative practice.
• Committed to safeguarding and wellbeing of pupils.
• Hold or be willing to obtain enhanced DBS.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to help pupils access learning.
• Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, confidence, and social skills.
• Use consistent strategies (including Team Teach approaches) to promote safety and positive behaviour.
• Work with teachers to deliver structured, engaging activities.
• Create a calm and supportive classroom environment where pupils can thrive and stay focused.
