Astro Education in South Manchester is seeking a calm and resilient Behaviour Support Mentor to work within a specialist SEN/SEMH environment. You will provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring, support pupils with SEMH and challenging behaviour, and help them develop emotional regulation and positive attitudes towards learning.

Join a supportive school team with small class sizes and a clear pathway to a permanent role after induction.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with SEMH and challenging behaviour.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with pupils.
  • Calm, consistent and resilient under pressure.
  • Experience in education or youth work is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group mentoring and pastoral support.
  • Helping pupils develop emotional regulation and coping strategies.
  • Supporting pupils to recognise and manage their behaviour.
  • Encouraging positive attitudes towards learning and school.
  • Helping to maintain a calm, safe and structured environment.
  • Working alongside teachers and support staff to implement individual behaviour strategies.
  • Supporting pupils through difficult or challenging situations.
  • Encouraging positive choices, independence and personal development.
  • Helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.
