Job summary

Astro Education in South Manchester is seeking a calm and resilient Behaviour Support Mentor to work within a specialist SEN/SEMH environment. You will provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring, support pupils with SEMH and challenging behaviour, and help them develop emotional regulation and positive attitudes towards learning.

Join a supportive school team with small class sizes and a clear pathway to a permanent role after induction.

Qualifications

Experience working with SEMH and challenging behaviour.
Ability to build strong relationships with pupils.
Calm, consistent and resilient under pressure.
Experience in education or youth work is desirable.

Responsibilities

Supporting pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
Providing 1:1 and small-group mentoring and pastoral support.
Helping pupils develop emotional regulation and coping strategies.
Supporting pupils to recognise and manage their behaviour.
Encouraging positive attitudes towards learning and school.
Helping to maintain a calm, safe and structured environment.
Working alongside teachers and support staff to implement individual behaviour strategies.
Supporting pupils through difficult or challenging situations.
Encouraging positive choices, independence and personal development.
Helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.
