Teaching Personnel is recruiting for a SEMH Student Engagement Mentor to work full-time at a specialist Secondary SEMH school in the Manchester area. You will build trusting relationships, provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring, and support students with emotional regulation and engagement with learning.

This role suits educators, youth workers, sports coaches, and behavioural specialists seeking to make a lasting difference.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting students with SEMH needs or behavioural challenges.
• Background in education, youth work, or mental health support.
• Enhanced DBS through Update Service or willingness to apply.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsabilités

• Build strong, positive relationships with students who require additional emotional and behavioural support.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring sessions.
• Support students in managing emotions and developing effective coping strategies.
• Encourage attendance, engagement, and participation in learning activities.
• Implement behaviour support plans and de-escalation techniques where required.
• Promote positive behaviour and reward student achievements.
• Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals to support individual learning and wellbeing plans.
• Assist during lessons, transitions, break times, and enrichment activities.
• Act as a positive role model, helping students develop confidence, resilience, and independence.
• Accurately record incidents, progress, and interventions.
