Job summary

Teaching Personnel are recruiting a SEMH Behaviour Support Mentor to join a specialist secondary SEMH provision in the Trafford area. This full-time, term-time only role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people who face barriers to education due to SEMH, ADHD, ASC, trauma, attachment difficulties, anxiety and challenging behaviour.

In this role you will work 1:1 and in small groups, build positive, consistent relationships with students, implement behaviour

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, ASC, ADHD or behavioural needs.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach when supporting challenging behaviour.
• Strong behaviour management and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Support secondary-aged students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• Build positive relationships with young people.
• Implement behaviour support and de-escalation strategies to promote engagement.
• Support students inside and outside the classroom to overcome barriers.
• Assist teaching staff with tailored learning activities and interventions.
• Work with teachers, SENCOs and external agencies to support student plans.
• Monitor and record academic, behavioural, and pastoral progress.
