Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. in Manchester is seeking SEMH Student Support Mentors to assist pupils with emotional, social and mental health needs in specialist SEMH schools.

You will support students 1:1 and in small groups, build trusting relationships, encourage engagement in learning, and help develop emotional regulation and social skills. Collaboration with teachers and safeguarding staff is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in education and teaching support.
• Youth work or mentoring experience preferred.
• Willingness to obtain a DBS check via Update Service.

Responsibilities

• Support students 1:1 and in small groups throughout the school day.
• Build strong relationships to help students feel safe and understood.
• Encourage engagement in learning and support personal/academic goals.
• Apply behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques.
• Help students develop emotional regulation, social skills and independence.
• Support classroom learning and act as a trusted mentor and role model.
• Collaborate with teachers, pastoral teams, therapists and safeguarding staff.
