Job summary

Prospero Teaching are recruiting a SEN Science Teacher for an independent SEMH school in Totton, Hampshire, with a September 2026 start. The role covers KS3/KS4 Science in a nurturing, well‑resourced environment designed to support pupils with SEMH needs and Additional Learning Difficulties.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging Science lessons, building positive relationships with families and carers while supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent.
• Experience teaching Science at secondary level.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• SEN/SEMH experience desirable.
• Up-to-date safeguarding training (within the last year).

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the teaching area is organised to provide a safe, tidy and stimulating learning environment.
• Planning and delivering engaging Science lessons tailored to individual pupil needs.
• Teaching Science across KS3 and KS4.
• Adapting lessons to meet SEMH needs and encourage positive engagement.
• Assessing, monitoring and reporting on pupil progress.
• Developing and maintaining positive relationships with families, carers and colleagues.
