Job summary

Remedy Education is working with a secondary SEMH school in Leyton that is looking for a Science Teacher to join their team from September 2026.

This is a great opportunity for a teacher who enjoys working with young people and wants to teach in a setting where building relationships is just as important as delivering the curriculum.

You will teach Science across KS3 and KS4, helping students develop knowledge while also building their confidence and engagement with learning.

Qualifications

• QTS or QTLS required.
• Strong knowledge of Science.
• Secondary teaching experience.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour.
• Patient, approachable and consistent.
• Ability to build relationships with students.
• Willing to engage with wider school.
• Experience with SEMH, SEN, PRU or alternative education is useful but not essential.
• ECTs are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering Science lessons across KS3 and KS4
• Teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics where appropriate
• Making lessons practical, engaging and accessible
• Adapting teaching to suit different abilities and learning needs
• Building positive relationships with students and encouraging participation
• Managing behaviour calmly and consistently
• Creating a safe classroom environment
• Supporting students working towards GCSEs and other qualifications
• Monitoring progress and adapting lessons where needed
• Working closely with Teaching Assistants, pastoral staff and the wider school team
• Helping students develop confidence, independence and a positive attitude toward education
