Job summary

Academics seeks a passionate Science Teacher for an Alternative Provision in Littlehampton, West Sussex, starting September 2026. You will engage young adults with SEMH needs, delivering accessible science lessons and building confidence to re-engage with education.

The role requires QTS or equivalent, strong classroom management, and a nurturing approach. You'll join a supportive team and contribute to a specialist environment focused on individual student needs, with a SEN allowance included

Qualifications

• QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching Science in a secondary school or specialist setting.
• Experience working with students with SEMH needs or strong understanding of supporting young people with additional needs.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging and accessible Science lessons tailored to students' needs.
• Teach children and young adults with SEMH needs within an Alternative Provision setting.
• Create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Adapt lessons to meet a range of learning, behavioural and emotional needs.
• Build strong relationships with students and encourage positive attitudes towards learning.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback and support.
• Collaborate with colleagues and pastoral team to support academic and personal development.
• Promote positive behaviour, resilience and independence.
