Job summary

Rising Hope Education in Barking & Dagenham is seeking a confident Science Teacher to join their SEMH specialist school immediately. You will deliver engaging KS3 and KS4 science lessons and support pupils who may not thrive in mainstream settings.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, differentiate lessons, manage behaviour calmly, and uphold safeguarding standards to help vulnerable young people make meaningful progress.

Qualifications

• Has QTS/QTLS or relevant teaching experience within Science
• Is confident teaching Science across primary, KS3 and KS4
• Has experience of SEMH, SEND, alternative provision or challenging behaviour, or a genuine desire to move into specialist education
• Can confidently manage behaviour while remaining calm, consistent and relational
• Understands the importance of building trust with pupils who may have experienced disruption or barriers to education
• Can differentiate lessons for varying levels of ability and engagement
• Is resilient, adaptable and comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Has a strong commitment to safeguarding and supporting vulnerable young people

Rising Hope Education is working with a specialist SEMH school in Barking & Dagenham that is looking for a confident and engaging Science Teacher to join their team immediately.

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who enjoys working with young people who may not always thrive within a mainstream environment. The school supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and is looking for somebody who can combine strong science teaching with patience, consistency and an understanding of behaviour as communication.

The role

You will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible Science lessons to pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, adapting your teaching to meet a wide range of academic, behavioural and emotional needs.

The successful teacher will be able to build positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries and high expectations. Lessons will need to be creative, practical and differentiated to help pupils re-engage with learning and make meaningful progress.

We are looking for somebody who:

Previous specialist-school experience would be advantageous, but we are equally interested in strong mainstream Science teachers who have the temperament and motivation to move into an SEMH setting.
