Job summary

Chellaston Academy is seeking a Learning Mentor to support students at risk of exclusion, providing academic and pastoral assistance, especially in literacy and numeracy. You’ll plan structured sessions, lead small groups, and help students build independence and resilience.

You’ll work closely with teaching and pastoral teams to remove barriers to learning, reinforce positive behaviour, and help reintegrate pupils into mainstream lessons in a calm, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and an understanding of child development, behaviour management, safeguarding, equal opportunities and how children learn.

Responsibilities

• Support students at risk of exclusion with academic and pastoral activities.
• Provide in-class assistance, small-group work and targeted interventions (literacy and numeracy).
• Plan and lead structured sessions and activities (AQA Unit Awards, life-skills, careers-focused learning).
• Help students develop resilience, self-regulation and independence and assist reintegration into mainstream lessons.
