Job summary

Cover People is seeking an SEMH Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist provision in Chapel-en-le-Frith. You will support students with emotional, behavioural and academic needs, helping them re-engage with education and develop essential skills for future success.

The role emphasises wellbeing, nurturing relationships and tailored learning pathways, with collaboration across staff to ensure meaningful progress for every student.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting secondary aged students with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach to challenges.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Confidence in supporting students with challenging behaviour.
• Passion for helping young people succeed.

Responsibilities

• Support students with SEMH needs in lessons and intervention sessions.
• Build positive relationships to encourage engagement and progress.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual needs.
• Assist with behaviour management using restorative approaches.
• Help students develop emotional regulation, resilience and social skills.
• Collaborate with teachers, pastoral teams and external agencies.
