Job summary

Empowering Learning Ltd is recruiting a Primary PRU Teaching Assistant for a Barnet-based setting in London. The role supports primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs within a structured PRU environment, focusing on behaviour support and learning engagement.

You will work closely with teachers to deliver 1:1 and small-group support, assist with lesson delivery, and help pupils build confidence, resilience and positive relationships, enabling progress in core subjects and social development.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting primary pupils with SEMH and challenging behaviour.
• 1:1 and small-group support experience.
• Ability to work with teachers and school staff.
• Patient, resilient and calm in challenging situations.
• Experience in education, SEND or PRU settings.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups.
• Assist with lesson delivery and activities.
• Support access to the curriculum.
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement.
• Support emotional regulation and social development.
• Maintain a calm, safe learning environment.
• Supervise pupils during breaks and transitions.
• Prepare classroom resources and assist with lesson prep.
• Build positive relationships with pupils.
• Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to meet needs.
