Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support secondary pupils in an Alternative Provision setting in London. You will work with students who have SEMH needs, ADHD and challenging behaviour, providing 1:1 and small-group support to help re-engage with learning.

The role is full-time and long-term with competitive daily pay, a dedicated consultant, CPD opportunities and ongoing placement support.

Qualifications

• SEMH experience required.
• Experience in Alternative Provision or specialist secondary setting.
• Confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Patient, resilient and able to remain calm under pressure.
• Able to establish clear boundaries while building positive relationships.
• Passionate about supporting young people who may have struggled in mainstream education.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support.
• Support pupils with SEMH, ADHD and additional learning needs.
• Use positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
• Build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
• Support pupils academically, socially and emotionally.
• Collaborate with teachers and the SEND team.
