Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an SEMH Cover Supervisor to join a supportive secondary school in Corby, Northamptonshire. You will supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher and deliver pre-planned lessons and activities to support SEMH learners.

The role focuses on building positive relationships with students, managing challenging behaviour with calm consistency, and supporting emotional regulation to help students engage with their learning.

Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Cover Supervisor specialising in Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) to join a supportive secondary school in the Corby area.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has experience working with young people with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges or additional emotional needs and is confident leading learning activities and managing a classroom environment.

The school is looking for someone who can build strong relationships with students, remain calm and consistent when managing challenging behaviour, and provide the structure and support students need to engage positively with their learning.

The Role

As an SEMH Cover Supervisor, you will play an important role in supporting students both academically and emotionally.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supervising classes in the absence of the regular teacher

• Delivering pre-planned lessons and learning activities

• Leading small-group activities and interventions

• Supporting students with SEMH and behavioural needs

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH or behavioural needs

• Experience delivering activities, sessions or learning to groups of young people

• Strong behaviour management skills

• The ability to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

• A patient, empathetic and resilient approach

• Confidence leading a classroom or group

• A genuine passion for supporting young people's mental health and wellbeing

• The ability to establish clear boundaries while maintaining positive relationships

• A commitment to helping students overcome barriers to learning
