Job summary

Long Term Futures are seeking a dedicated Behavioural Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH provision supporting pupils aged 4-16 in Shepshed. The role runs 8:40am–3:40pm, Monday to Friday, with start ASAP.

It offers both long-term opportunities and day-to-day cover, with a temp-to-perm path. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, build trusting relationships, support emotional regulation and behaviour management, and work with teachers and SENCOs.

Qualifications

Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH/SEND or behavioural needs.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Calm, patient and resilient, with the ability to respond positively to challenging situations.

Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils aged 4-16 with SEMH, SEND and behavioural needs.
Build consistent, trusting relationships with children and young people who may have barriers to education.
Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour using de-escalation and behaviour-management strategies.
Create a calm, structured and nurturing environment where pupils feel safe and supported.
Adapt communication and support to pupils' age and development stage.
Work with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff and external professionals to provide consistent support.
Encourage pupils to develop resilience, confidence, independence and social and emotional skills.
