Job summary

GSL Education are seeking a Behaviour Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Market Weighton. You will support pupils with behavioural, emotional or social needs during school hours and work closely with teaching and pastoral staff.

You will provide one-to-one and small-group support, help pupils engage with learning, and contribute to a calm, safe learning environment in line with school policies. This role is full-time/term-time with a competitive salary dependent on experience.

• Confident working with children and young people.
• Passionate about supporting behavioural or emotional needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils requiring behavioural or emotional support.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and encourage positive attitudes towards learning.
• Support pupils in managing emotions and developing coping and communication strategies.
• Promote positive behaviour and help pupils understand the impact of their choices.
• Assist teachers in maintaining a calm, safe and positive learning environment.
• Respond calmly to challenging behaviour and follow school policies.
