Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Behaviour Intervention Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEMH school in Blackburn. You will support secondary pupils with SEMH, ADHD, autism, and related needs, delivering targeted interventions and mentoring to help them regulate emotions and behaviours.

The role is full-time, long-term with a September start. You will work alongside experienced teachers and pastoral staff to apply de-escalation techniques and reinforce positive routines, building trust with

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, ADHD, autism or attachment difficulties.
• Ability to identify triggers and support emotional regulation.
• Use of de-escalation strategies to manage challenging situations.
• Commitment to building consistent, trusting relationships with pupils.

Responsibilities

• Delivering 1:1 behaviour interventions and mentoring
• Identifying triggers and early signs of emotional dysregulation
• Using effective de-escalation strategies during challenging situations
• Supporting pupils to develop emotional regulation and coping techniques
• Reinforcing positive behaviour, routines, and clear boundaries
• Helping pupils reflect after incidents and re-engage with learning
• Building relationships based on trust and consistency
