Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a Behaviour Intervention Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEMH school in Preston. The role involves supporting secondary pupils with SEMH needs, providing 1:1 interventions and helping students develop emotional regulation and positive coping strategies.

You will work with teachers and pastoral staff to reinforce boundaries, routines, and safe learning, with a September start and a full-time, long‑term contract. Up to £600 per week, depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs.
• Experience working in specialist education settings is a plus.
• Ability to implement consistent boundaries and routines.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted 1:1 behaviour interventions and mentoring
• Support pupils experiencing emotional dysregulation
• Use effective de-escalation and behaviour management strategies
• Help pupils recognise triggers and develop healthier coping mechanisms
• Reinforce clear expectations, routines, and boundaries
• Support pupils to successfully return to learning following incidents
• Build trusting relationships with young people who may have struggled within mainstream education
