Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Trafford is seeking a dedicated Behaviour & Resilience Mentor to support 11–16-year-olds with SEMH needs in a specialist secondary setting. The role focuses on academic and emotional support, within a nurturing environment.

You will collaborate with teaching and pastoral staff to implement strategies, build relationships, and encourage positive engagement and resilience in learners across the school day.

Qualifications

• Experience with young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Team Teach training is desirable but not essential.

Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and build a brighter future? Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Behaviour & Resilience Mentor for a specialist secondary setting in the Trafford area, supporting students aged 11-16 with a range of SEMH needs, including ASC, ADHD, anxiety, attachment difficulties, trauma-related behaviours, emotional regulation needs, low self-esteem, and challenging behaviour.

The school provides a nurturing and structured environment for pupils who have struggled in mainstream education, with a strong focus on wellbeing, personal development, and positive relationships. With small class sizes, excellent staff support, and a child-centred approach, the school offers an engaging and rewarding opportunity for educators looking to make a genuine impact on the lives of vulnerable young people.

The Role

As a Behaviour & Resilience Mentor, you will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support students both academically and emotionally.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience working with young people with SEMH, behavioural, or additional learning needs
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• A calm, resilient, and patient approach
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
• A genuine passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable young people
• Experience in education, youth work, care, coaching, support work, or similar settings
• Team Teach training is desirable but not essential
