Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting SEMH Behaviour & Resilience Mentors to work across specialist SEMH provisions in the Wigan area. These roles support pupils to regulate emotions, build positive relationships and engage with learning.

You will provide 1:1 and small‑group support, implement behaviour strategies, and work with teachers and pastoral teams to monitor progress and contribute to reviews. This is a flexible role with both full-time and part-time opportunities and immediate starts.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, care, coaching, mentoring, or similar settings.
• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
• Resilient, patient, and empathetic approach.
• A genuine passion for supporting young people with SEMH needs.
• Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
• Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.

Teaching Personnel is recruiting SEMH Behaviour & Resilience Mentors to work across specialist primary and secondary SEMH provisions in the Wigan area. These schools support pupils with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs, including anxiety, trauma, attachment difficulties, ADHD, ASD, emotional dysregulation, low self-esteem, challenging behaviour, and difficulties with social communication.

This rewarding role is ideal for individuals with experience in education, youth work, support work, coaching, mental health services, care settings, or those looking to build a career supporting vulnerable young people.

The Role

As a SEMH Behaviour & Resilience Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom, helping them regulate emotions, develop positive relationships, and engage successfully with their education.
