Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Salford is seeking a dedicated Student Behaviour & Wellbeing Mentor to support secondary pupils with SEMH needs in a full-time, term-time-only role starting in September. You will help students regulate emotions, access learning, and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom.

We are looking for a calm, adaptable candidate with DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one, and the legal right to work in the UK. Driving licence and access to a vehicle are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with additional learning or behavioural needs.
  • Calm, adaptable and resilient with a genuine passion for helping young people.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
  • Enhanced DBS (Update Service) or willingness to obtain one.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to students throughout the school day, in lessons and activities.
  • Use behaviour support strategies and conflict-resolution techniques to promote a positive learning environment.
  • Develop strong relationships that encourage trust, self-esteem and emotional growth.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and pastoral teams to deliver personalised support for individual students.
  • Motivate young people to engage with education and build independence.

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated Student Behaviour & Wellbeing Mentor to join a specialist SEMH provision in Salford. This full-time, term-time-only position is available from September and offers the opportunity to support secondary-aged pupils between 11 and 16 years old. The school caters for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as a range of additional requirements including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, anxiety, attachment-related difficulties, and behavioural needs. You will play a key role in helping students regulate their emotions, access their learning, and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Duties:
  • Provide tailored support to students throughout the school day, both in lessons and during wider school activities.
  • Use effective behaviour support strategies and conflict-resolution techniques to promote a positive learning environment.
  • Develop strong, professional relationships that encourage trust, self-esteem, and emotional growth.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and pastoral teams to deliver personalised support for individual students.
  • Motivate young people to engage with education, improve their independence, and make positive choices.
What We're Looking For:
  • Previous experience supporting children, teenagers, or individuals with additional learning or behavioural needs is advantageous.
  • A calm, adaptable, and resilient nature, with a genuine passion for supporting young people.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel.
  • The legal right to work within the UK.
