Security Systems Service Engineer, Gloucester

This role involves providing professional engineering expertise and excellent customer service during the maintenance of CCTV, Intruder, Access Control Systems, and other security solutions. It may include installation and commissioning. The main challenges include meeting deadlines, ensuring thoroughness, delivering quality customer service, and conducting fault cause analysis to meet business needs.

Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions

1. Provide technical expertise in fault finding and repairs of various PC/Network-based and analogue security systems, with knowledge of different high-end software packages.
2. Diagnose and repair CCTV systems ranging from small setups to large multi-site installations with PC-based digital recorders.
3. Understand fibre optic transmission, LAN/WAN networks, and radio telemetry systems to effectively troubleshoot faults.
4. Collaborate with higher-grade engineers as needed.
5. Offer emergency solutions outside regular hours as per departmental rota.
6. Work with all parts of the business to ensure scope of work aligns with customer expectations.
7. Participate in team meetings and contribute to business activities.
8. Focus on personal development and performance, including performance reviews and personal development plans.
9. Maintain current technical knowledge through training.
10. Operate in accordance with business applications and processes, including order submission, stock control, timesheet submission, and job closure.
11. Travel between sites during working hours.

Skills, Qualifications, and Competencies

• NVQ Level 3 in Electronic Security or equivalent experience; knowledge of Access Control, CCTV, Intercom, and Intruder systems.
• Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems.
• Understanding of digital electronics principles and systems.
• Health and Safety awareness.
• Good knowledge of CCTV, Access Control, Intercom, and Intruder systems.
• Familiarity with digital electronics and electrical systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft OS and network fundamentals such as TCP/IP.

Terms and Conditions

• Overtime and call-out requirements as specified.
• Optional overtime on Sundays; contractual call-out rota subject to regulations.
• 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
• Salary range: £32,000 – £40,000, depending on experience.
• Standard hours: 40 hours/week.
• Overtime pay: x1.5 and x2 rates.
