The purpose of the job is to provide professional engineering expertise and excellent internal and external customer service during the maintenance of a variety of CCTV, Intruder, Access Control Systems, and other security solutions, including some installation and commissioning. The main challenges include deadline pressures, demand for thoroughness, customer service skills, and root cause analysis of faults to meet business requirements.
Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Provide technical expertise in fault finding and repairs of various PC/Network-based and analogue security systems, with knowledge of different high-end software packages.
- Diagnose and repair a range of CCTV operating systems, from small-scale systems to large multi-site installations with PC-based digital recorders.
- Understand fibre optic transmission systems, LAN/WAN networks, and radio telemetry systems to effectively resolve faults.
- Liaise with higher-grade engineers as required.
- Provide emergency solutions outside of normal hours as specified in the departmental rota.
- Collaborate with all parts of the business to ensure the scope of work is delivered as per customer expectations.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to business activities.
- Maximize personal development and performance through active participation in reviews and development plans.
- Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge through training.
- Operate according to business-specific applications and processes, including order submission, stock control, timesheet submission, and job closure. Travel between sites during the workday.
Skills, Qualifications, and Competencies
- NVQ Level 3 in Electronic Security or equivalent experience; knowledge of Access Control, CCTV, Intercom, Intruder systems.
- Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems.
- Understanding of digital electronics principles, systems, and electrical systems.
- Good knowledge of health and safety standards.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP and network fundamentals, including UFE's (Unified Front End).
Terms and Conditions
- Overtime and call-out requirements, including optional overtime on Sundays.
- Contractual call-out rota subject to working regulations.
- Breaks/lunch: 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
- Basic pay range: £32,000 – £40,000, depending on experience and credentials.
- Standard hours: 40 hours per week.
- Overtime at 1.5x or 2x pay.
