Job summary

Wilson James is seeking a Security Officer in Reading for a permanent, full-time role. The position involves guarding premises, patrolling, monitoring CCTV, and responding to incidents to keep staff, visitors, and assets safe.

The role requires a current SIA licence and flexibility to cover days on a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern. You will complete incident reports, assist in evacuations if needed, and adapt to multiple client sites, working as part of a supportive team to maintain high security

Qualifications

• Must hold a current SIA licence.
• Proven experience in a security role or similar position.
• Strong observational skills with the ability to identify and respond to security threats.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, visitors and authorities.
• Ability to remain calm and act decisively in high-pressure situations.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming staff and visitors and creating a safe, professional atmosphere.
• Conducting regular patrols and monitor premises to prevent unauthorised access, theft or vandalism.
• Monitoring access points, CCTV, and handling security procedures.
• Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies and security incidents, taking appropriate action as needed.
• Complete detailed reports on daily activities, incidents and any security concerns.
• Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations and first aid support if required.
• Adapting to different client sites - no two days are the same.
• Responding calmly and confidently to incidents or concerns.
• Working as part of a diverse, supportive team.

What we are looking for:

• To hold a current DS SIA Licence
