Job summary

Wilson James in Wick, Scotland is hiring a Security Officer to protect staff, visitors and assets across a busy site. You will patrol, monitor CCTV, manage access points and respond to alarms with calm professionalism.

We seek individuals with an SIA licence, proven security experience and strong observation skills. The role covers day and night shifts, 42 hours per week, with an attractive leave entitlement and company benefits.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming staff and visitors; maintaining professional atmosphere

About the Role:

As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for:

• Welcoming staff and visitors and creating a safe, professional atmosphere
• Conducting regular patrols and monitor premises to prevent unauthorised access, theft, or vandalism.
• Monitoring access points, CCTV, and handling security procedures
• Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents, taking appropriate action as needed.
• Complete detailed reports on daily activities, incidents, and any security concerns.
• Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations and first aid support if required.
• Adapting to different client sites – no two days are the same
• Responding calmly and confidently to incidents or concerns
• Working as part of a diverse, supportive team

What we are looking for:

• To hold a current DS SIA Licence
• Proven experience in a security role or a similar position.
• Strong observational skills with the ability to identify and respond to security threats.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, visitors, and authorities.
• Ability to remain calm and act decisively in high-pressure situations.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
