Job summary

Balfour Beatty is seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project in Teesside. You will lead engineering activities on your section, ensuring safety, quality and timely delivery.

You will mentor site engineers, review drawings and RAMS, coordinate subcontractors, and contribute to continuous improvement across the project. The role requires strong technical and leadership capabilities and a proactive problem-solving approach.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven setting out and engineering management experience.
• Experience as a Section Engineer on large civil/infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of quality assurance and construction methodologies.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• CSCS card is essential; SMSTS and Temporary Works experience are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Managing engineering activities across your allocated section of works.
• Leading and mentoring Site Engineers and supporting the wider delivery team.
• Ensuring works are carried out safely, in accordance with Zero Harm principles.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical information for buildability and compliance.
• Managing setting out activities and ensuring dimensional accuracy.
• Producing and reviewing RAMS, ITPs and other engineering documentation.
• Coordinating subcontractors, designers and stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
