Job summary

BMDIs UK, part of the BMD Group, is seeking a Section Engineer to join our UK team on a permanent basis. The role is site-based with travel and overnight stays across projects in the UK, including roads, bridges and water treatment works.

You will lead junior engineers, support the Sub-Agent, and promote safety and quality culture on site. A Civil Engineering degree (or equivalent) and 4+ years of site experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent is essential.
• Solid site experience with setting out and civil works.
• Good IT skills including AutoCAD 3D and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate stakeholders and subcontractors to ensure project progress.
• Allocate labour, plant, materials and temporary works to meet standards and budget.
• Assist in producing programmes, progress reports and cost plans.
• Resolve technical on-site issues with the Sub-Agent's guidance.
• Prepare health, safety and quality documentation and reports.
• Manage junior engineers and site engineers and supervise crews.

We require a Section Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis.

We have projects across the UK ranging from roads & highway upgrades, bridges, water treatment plants etc.

Candidates that are interested in this role must be able to travel and stay away throughout the week.

This is a full-time site-based role for a Section Engineer. The Section Engineer will manage junior engineers and assist the Sub-Agent in construction operations, personally demonstrating a positive culture including key values & behaviours of Safety and Quality.

Daily tasks include:

• Regular communication and reporting to multiple stakeholders to ensure the seamless execution of projects, including coordination of subcontractors.
• Allocate labour, plant, materials and temporary works to carry out activities to the required standards, programme and budget.
• Assist with the production of programmes, progress reports, material procurement, resource and cost plans.
• Identify and resolve technical problems on site in liaison with the Sub-Agent.
• Conduct site evaluations, develop Health & Safety and Quality documentation, provide technical expertise, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
• People management including junior engineers, site engineers, sub contractors and operatives.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Degree level/HNC/HND qualification in a Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• 4+ years of site experience, including setting out
• Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practice.
• IT skills including MS Office and AutoCAD 3D
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable

• CSCS, SMSTS, TWS or TWC
• Awareness of commercial processes
• Leadership and organisational skills
