Job summary

BMD Group is seeking a Section Engineer to join our UK-based team on a permanent, full-time site role. The position requires travelling and staying away during the week to support projects across roads, bridges, and water treatment facilities.

You will work on-site, coordinating teams and ensuring safety and quality compliance across diverse sites. Ideal candidates have a Civil Engineering qualification with 4+ years’ on-site experience, strong communication, and practical knowledge of

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent required.
• 4+ years on-site experience including setting out.
• Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices.
• IT skills including MS Office and AutoCAD 3D.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily site activities and communicate with multiple stakeholders.
• Allocate labour, plant, materials and temporary works to meet standards, programme and budget.
• Assist with programmes, progress reports, procurement, resource and cost plans.
• Identify and resolve technical problems on site with the Sub-Agent.
• Develop health and safety and quality documentation; prepare reports; ensure compliance.
• People management including junior engineers, site engineers, subcontractors and operatives.

We require a Section Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis. We have projects across the UK ranging from roads & highway upgrades, bridges, water treatment plants etc. Candidates that are interested in this role must be able to travel and stay away throughout the week. This is a full-time site-based role for a Section Engineer.

Daily tasks include:

• Regular communication and reporting to multiple stakeholders to ensure the seamless execution of projects, including coordination of subcontractors.
• Allocate labour, plant, materials and temporary works to carry out activities to the required standards, programme and budget.
• Assist with the production of programmes, progress reports, material procurement, resource and cost plans.
• Identify and resolve technical problems on site in liaison with the Sub-Agent.
• Conduct site evaluations, develop Health & Safety and Quality documentation, provide technical expertise, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
• People management including junior engineers, site engineers, sub contractors and operatives.

Essential

• Degree level/HNC/HND qualification in a Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• 4+ years of site experience, including setting out
• Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practice.
• IT skills including MS Office and AutoCAD 3D
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable

• CSCS, SMSTS, TWS or TWC
• Awareness of commercial processes
• Leadership and organisational skills
