Job summary

BMD Group’s UK arm is seeking a Section Engineer to join on a permanent, full‑time basis. The role is site-based and requires travel and overnight stays across projects including roads, bridges, and water treatment works.

You will manage junior engineers, assist the Sub-Agent, and uphold safety and quality while delivering programmes, cost plans, and coordination of subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• 4+ years site experience including setting out.
• Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practice.

Responsibilities

• Regular communication and reporting to stakeholders for project execution.
• Allocate labour, plant, materials and temporary works to meet standards, programme and budget.
• Assist with programmes, progress reports, procurement, resource and cost plans.

We require a Section Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis.

We have projects across the UK ranging from roads & highway upgrades, bridges, water treatment plants etc.

Candidates that are interested in this role must be able to travel and stay away throughout the week.

This is a full-time site-based role for a Section Engineer. The Section Engineer will manage junior engineers and assist the Sub-Agent in construction operations, personally demonstrating a positive culture including key values & behaviours of Safety and Quality.

Daily tasks include:

• Regular communication and reporting to multiple stakeholders to ensure the seamless execution of projects, including coordination of subcontractors.
• Allocate labour, plant, materials and temporary works to carry out activities to the required standards, programme and budget.
• Assist with the production of programmes, progress reports, material procurement, resource and cost plans.
• Identify and resolve technical problems on site in liaison with the Sub-Agent.
• Conduct site evaluations, develop Health & Safety and Quality documentation, provide technical expertise, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
• People management including junior engineers, site engineers, sub contractors and operatives.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Degree level/HNC/HND qualification in a Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• 4+ years of site experience, including setting out
• Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practice.
• IT skills including MS Office and AutoCAD 3D
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable

• CSCS, SMSTS, TWS or TWC
• Awareness of commercial processes
• Leadership and organisational skills
