Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant to support students with SEND within a specialist secondary provision in Rochdale, partnered with a mainstream academy. The role runs Wednesday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, and involves helping students access the formal curriculum and GCSE/entry-level qualifications.

Qualifications

Experience supporting SEND students within a setting integrating with mainstream peers.
Ability to help deliver GCSE or entry-level curriculum content.
Calm, empathetic and proactive approach to SEMH needs.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
A relevant qualification in support, care, or education is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small group support to secondary-age students.
Support access to GCSE and entry-level curriculum content alongside mainstream peers.
Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets.
Support students' social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Work closely with teaching staff, families, and external agencies.
