Job summary

Supply Desk in New Forest is seeking an experienced HLTA to join an Additional Resourced Provision in a secondary school with a strong SEND and pastoral focus.

You will provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with autism and related needs, adapting activities to enable access to learning and promote positive behaviour. You will build trusting relationships with students and families and support safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting students with autism or additional needs.
• Understanding of autism, ADHD and related learning/behavioural needs.
• Patient, empathetic and resilient approach to supporting young people.
• Excellent communication with students, staff and parents.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and confidentiality practices.
• Enhanced DBS check (support available if required).

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with autism and other needs.
• Assist small groups of students in accessing lessons and activities.
• Create trusting relationships with pupils and families.
• Signpost families to additional support outside the school.
• Adapt learning materials to meet individual needs.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interactions.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to implement learning plans.
• Monitor progress and maintain records.
• Promote a safe, inclusive environment for all learners.
