Job summary

Supply Desk in New Forest is seeking an experienced HLTA to join an Additional Resourced Provision in a secondary school with a strong SEND and pastoral focus.

You will provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with autism and related needs, adapting activities to enable access to learning and promote positive behaviour. You will build trusting relationships with students and families and support safeguarding.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting students with autism or additional needs.
  • Understanding of autism, ADHD and related learning/behavioural needs.
  • Patient, empathetic and resilient approach to supporting young people.
  • Excellent communication with students, staff and parents.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and confidentiality practices.
  • Enhanced DBS check (support available if required).

Responsibilities

Additional Resourced Provision (Full Time) Secondary HLTA – New Forest

Contract:Long-Term (potentially permanent)


Institution:KS3/4 with a heavy SEND and pastoral focus


Pay:£88.50-£100 per day



About the Role

We are seeking a Teaching Assistant with SEND experience to work with those with additional needs which may include escalated behaviour and avoidant learning within an Additional Resourced Provision in a Secondary School. This rewarding role involves supporting students with additional needs both 1:1 and in small group settings, helping them to access learning and achieve their full potential. The Additional Resourced Unit supports students to learn regulatory skills and access learning in a supportive environment in order to reintroduce them to the mainstream classrooms.

The dedicated SEND unit team works closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed. Trusting rapports and consistent adult support is key to success.



Key Responsibilities


  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with autism and other additional needs.

  • Created trusting and respectful relationships with pupils and their families

  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all learners.



Requirements


  • Previous experience supporting students with autism or additional needs (school or care setting).

  • Strong understanding of autism, ADHD, and associated learning/behavioural needs.

  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting young people.

  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding and confidentiality practices.

  • Enhanced DBS check (support available if required).
