Job summary

Supply Desk in Hemel Hempstead is recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a supportive primary school. You will support lessons, lead activities in the absence of the class teacher, and provide targeted help to pupils with a range of learning needs.

The ideal candidate holds a recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent, with strong primary-school experience and a focus on safeguarding and inclusive education to help pupils reach their full potential.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
• Strong experience working in a primary school setting.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEN.
• Excellent communication and safeguarding awareness.
• Ability to foster an inclusive and positive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Support planning and delivery of engaging lessons and activities.
• Lead lessons in the absence of the class teacher where appropriate.
• Provide targeted one-to-one and small group support.
• Support pupils with SEN, ASD, ADHD and other needs.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers.
• Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, independence and social development.
• Collaborate with class teachers, SENCOs, support staff, and parents.
• Adapt activities to meet individual pupil needs and maintain inclusive environment.
