Job summary

Randstad Education in the Newmarket area is partnering with a network of secondary schools to recruit a Secondary English Teacher. You will deliver engaging English Language and English Literature lessons across KS3 and KS4, with KS5 opportunities also available.

Choose day-to-day cover or long-term placements, with flexibility to set your availability and build relationships with schools. A QTS or QTLS and a valid DBS Update Service are required. Weekly pay reflects experience and subject area.

Qualifications

• QTS or QTLS (or recognised UK teaching qualification).
• Strong classroom management skills with confidence in unfamiliar secondary settings.
• Specialist knowledge in English Language and Literature for KS3 and KS4.
• Adaptable, punctual and professional with excellent communication skills.
• Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging English Language and English Literature lessons across KS3 and KS4.
• Create a positive, safe classroom environment with effective behaviour management.
• Adapt delivery for diverse learning needs and SEND.
• Leave clear handover notes for regular class teachers on day-to-day cover.
• For long-term roles: plan, assess, mark work, track GCSE progress, participate in meetings and parents' evenings.

• Adapt learning delivery to accommodate students with diverse learning styles and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

• Leave clear handover notes for regular class teachers when fulfilling day-to-day cover assignments.

• For long-term roles: plan, assess, and mark work, track student progress against GCSE criteria, participate in department meetings, and contribute to parents' evenings as required.

What We Look For:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS (or recognised UK teaching qualification).
